Milo Richards

Milo Richards is a writer and director from Virginia whose work explores performative identity and collective memory through hybrid narrative and documentary forms. Prior to film, he worked in Richmond's theater community as an actor with Richmond Shakespeare and as an assistant director and dramaturg with Virginia Repertory Theatre and Firehouse Theatre. Milo’s filmmaking is informed by his background as an actor and his interest in the ways queer people inhabit stories about themselves.

His short film Fishy, a surreal exploration of dysphoria following a drag queen who hallucinates herself as a fish, premiered at BFI Flare and the Atlanta Film Festival in 2026 and received the Film Impact Georgia Award. Milo's films have premiered at Oscar and BAFTA-qualifying festivals as well as internationally in the UK, Sweden and Montreal. He is a graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University, holding a B.S. in Mass Communications and a B.A. in Theatre.

Milo is the current Event Coordinator at Out on Film, the South’s largest Oscar and BAFTA qualifying LGBTQ+ film festival, where he manages scheduling, outreach and connection with industry guests, publicists, national and local LGBTQ+ organizations, internal departments, and filmmakers.
